About Petri

Petri writes about tournaments and loyalty programmes. Both come down to the same question: what does taking part cost, and what does it return?

In his articles the scoring model is always the first thing established – total wagered, biggest multiplier or number of wins. The model decides whether entering makes sense.

Petri does not work for the casino and has seen no internal tournament statistics. He also does not report his own results, because a single result proves nothing.

On stake sizing he works from one simple rule: budget divided by the number of spins. The same calculation in reverse tells you what an evening costs.

On bonuses he goes through the clauses that decide the real value: the wagering requirement, the maximum stake while wagering, and the cap on what can be withdrawn.

He also writes about what persistence cannot do: turn around a losing streak. Every round is drawn separately, whatever happened in the rounds before it.

How these articles are made

  • Scoring and prizes are always read from the tournament’s own rules, never from the marketing copy
  • Every figure is presented as a calculation the reader can repeat with their own numbers
  • We do not report who won or how much – that is not information we have

"The price of a tournament can be calculated in advance. That calculation belongs before the entry, not after it."

Frequently Asked Questions for Petri

Is a tournament worth entering?
If you would be playing anyway and the scoring is multiplier-based, entering costs nothing extra. If the scoring is based on wagering and you play only for the tournament, the arithmetic runs at a loss.

How do I value a VIP programme?
From two figures in the terms: how much must be wagered per point, and what a point is worth in cash. One of the two is missing surprisingly often – and then the value cannot be calculated.

Does a bigger stake move me up the tiers faster?
It does, and it costs exactly the house edge. Chasing a tier is worth it only if the tier returns more than the journey there cost.

Can a tournament be won with skill?
Not a slots tournament: points come from wagering and random outcomes. In table game tournaments correct play matters, but it does not remove the house edge.

Who writes about the other topics?
Payments and withdrawals are covered by Elisa Karjalainen; breaks and staying in control by Saara Peltonen.
